| How does it
play? |
Well I only
had a few minutes to play with it last night, (06/12/00). It was late when I finished. But
I did get time to fire up quake 3 arena and play the runfest map. This is a map where
sniping and camping are not a bad thing. I noticed right off the bat that when I turned
the trackball, my movement was completely smooth and not jumpy. I had a problem before
with very precise zoomed shots. My gun sight would jump all around and by the time I got
on the target, I was dead.
No more gummed up/slipping rubber rollers. All you have to do now is clean the 3 ball
bearings every one in a while. (And don't forget to wash your ball while your at it.) I
also noticed that by frosting the ball, it feels like there is more grip and not as
slippery when your hand sweats. You do have to keep the ball from getting too sweaty
or the optical sensor will freak out and loose it's bearings. |
| Cave man
tool list |
Phillips
screwdriver (or sharp stick)
Fine grit sandpaper/steel wool/emory cloth/dish scrubby - to sand the ball and some
of the plastic pieces.
Hacksaw (caveman) or dremel tool (fine ass gentleman)
Superglue to glue together base parts.
Clear silicon (RTV or aquarium sealer) to glue assembly to circuit board.
Soldering iron to melt plastic here and there. (or dremel tool)
Exacto knife or razor blade.
A couple wire ties to secure the mouse power cord. You can actually heat up a knife or exacto and cut plastic. What a stench
though. And you have to clean up the melted edge. Again, a dremel is the tool of choice. |
