This is the
gimbal section that I am working on to be joined with the custom handle. It swivels 360
degree's and is smooth as silk. It is made out of heavy .064" brass with oil
bushings, nylon spacers and stainless steel shafts. The handle tube is 1/2" brass
tubing and gets joined to the custom handle that I am making. This assembly is not
finished yet, the spring section and mounting area have to be added. I am going to use 4
springs that pull all four directions. I am also going to use longer/beefier springs so
that they are not under as much stress when being pulled. The whole assembly is
going to be custom mounted in a panther housing when I am done.
Between the optical mod and this mod, my panther should be pretty awesome. I am sick of it
breaking every few days and leaving me stranded. Yes I am insane and this is crazy but I
enjoy fabricating things.
There are many hours of labor involved in this project. I will probably only make one
because of the amount of time involved but this stick should last a very long time. |
